- Our
Armor
As gay Christians, we often face attacks from
both the conservative church and the secular
world. To standing in the battle ground between
the "religious right" and extreme gay
activists, we need to have on a full spiritual
armor to stand our ground. The book of Ephesian
gave us a nice imagery:
Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so
that when the day of evil comes, you may be able
to stand your ground, and after you have done
everything, to stand. Stand firm than, with the
belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the
breast plate of righteousness in place, an with
your feet fitted with the readiness that come
from the gospel of peace. In addition to all
this, take up the shield of faith, with which you
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil
one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
(Ephesians 6:13-18)
From my own experience, we can also use a few
more accessories: a cape of friendship to keep
you warm, the staff of prayerfulness to help you
stand, the lens of wisdom to clear your vision,
and a bottle of humor to nourish you in the
unbearable times.
You too, will learn about new gears in your
battle. Trust that God will provide all you need.
It is through prayer that we obtain what God has
in store for us. He is our fortress, our
commander,our provider. Whatever your equipped
with, you will have to look to God for strength.
